At Dodge Speed Week 2022 in mid-August, Dodge revealed some big plans for the lineup in the coming years. Speed Week is where Dodge revealed the Charger Daytona SRT Concept, their all-new fully-electric compact muscle car. This push into the future for America’s muscle car brand is unexpected but brings an exciting glimpse into their future. There have been some doubts about electric vehicles in the past. However, power made Dodge do it because the electric power of the new concept car will make it just as, if not more powerful than, the current Hellcat models. Continue reading below to learn more about Dodge’s latest concept car, the all-electric Charger Daytona SRT Concept.

Exterior Design of the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept

While electric cars tend to follow a rounded, flowing design, Dodge is America’s muscle car brand. And a muscle car is known for its sharp lines and aggressive tones. This design is used for the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept. The Dodge strays from the modern emblems and uses the triangular Fratzog logo, which was used on Dodge models from 1962 to 1976, symbolizing the car’s American muscle heritage. The Fratzog logos are illuminated, giving off an enticing red glow. The front fascia hosts an LED light strip spanning the entire front end above the grille. Meanwhile, the rear fascia is home to a red LED light strip, similar to the current Chargers. The Charger Daytona SRT Concept features a patent-pending R-wing on the hood for unrivaled aerodynamics. These aerodynamics are provided by allowing air to pass through the R-wing’s openings, boosting performance by increasing downforce.

Interior Design of the Charger Daytona SRT Concept

Getting into the Charger Daytona SRT Concept, you’ll find a cockpit-like design with a driver-centric layout. Atop the center stack sits a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, giving drivers access to climate control, entertainment, navigation, and more. This makes the entire dashboard virtually free from physical buttons. The center stack is shifted slightly to face the driver, giving drivers an in-command feeling. Plenty of natural lighting and an open-air feeling is provided by a panoramic glass roof. The center spoke of the redesigned steering wheel appears to be floating as it is detached from the outer rim. Meanwhile, the steering wheel features a flat bottom, giving it a racecar feel. The center console of the concept car features a pistol-grip gear shifter and a push-button ignition with a red cover inspired by a fighter jet.

What is Dodge’s New Banshee Powertrain?

Dodge’s first-ever electric vehicle provides the same level of high-performance as the past models have while creating zero emissions. The name of the concept car wasn’t chosen at random. It got its name from the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, the first car to ever break 200 miles per hour, to boast its exhilarating performance. Dodge created the Banshee powertrain for the concept car, an 800-volt battery electric vehicle (BEV) system. The Banshee powertrain is mated to the all-new eRupt multi-speed transmission with electro-mechanical shifting to give drivers that distinctive muscle car jolt as the gears change. The concept’s PowerShot feature delivers a fifteen-second burst of extra horsepower to enhance performance. The goal of Dodge’s first electric car was to deliver an electric car that is just as powerful and as exciting as the current Hellcat models, and they’ve done that with the all-new Banshee powertrain.
